Documentary
Directed By Elan Bogarín, Jonathan Bogarín
Run Time 94 Minutes
U.S.A./Hungary

What is a human life made of? Among an endless plethora of objects, both fantastical and benign, emerges a portrait of the 20th century, embodied in a bold, matriarchal Jewish household. A brother and sister turn their late grandmother’s house into an archaeological excavation site. In so doing, they create a stylized arrangement of shapes and colors, a ghost story of American culture, as well as a meditation on the authorship and purpose of archives.

Chained for Life
Narrative
Directed By Aaron Schimberg
Run Time 91 Minutes

On the set of a sleazy B-movie horror film, the young lead actress grows closer to a co-star with facially disfiguring neurofibromatosis. But is her attraction part of her performance? And where does the performance end and reality begin? What follows is a complicated examination of how films have traditionally treated the physically disabled or deformed, drawing from Hollywood’s exploitative past to weave a dizzying meta-narrative.

Directed By Robert Schwartzman

In an effort to break out of a perceived malaise within their relationship, a stagnantly engaged couple spend an evening searching for a third partner to willingly participate in an impromptu threesome. A far more clever and humorous story about the dynamics of relationships than one might guess from the basic description here, the risqué concept ends up delivering a funny and charmingly sweet character-driven adventure.

Wild Nights With Emily sponsored by Fig Street Marketing Group
Directed by Madeleine Olnek
USA | 84 Minutes
Saturday | 8:40 PM
Museum of Art
SHOUT

Madeleine Olnek’s portrait of Emily Dickinson (Molly Shannon) casts light on the poet’s intense romance with women and words, and in doing so subverts the notions of biography and history entire. The result is a sexy, breathless, absurdist, and very cinematic literary romp. Interpretation alters our perception, turning seemingly dusty poetry into unspeakable sexual innuendo. “I taste a liquor never brewed –”, Dickinson whispers to her lover Susan – affirming that her lines are truly about that.

Madeline's Madeline
Directed By Josephine Decker
Run Time 93 Minutes
USA

From the start MADELINE’S MADELINE promises the audience a never before seen cinematic experience. With flashing shallow depth of field scenes, including POV vantage points of cats and turtles, the cast and plot are one and the same. Set amongst a theater company’s latest, all-inclusive, collaborative offering, MADELINE’S MADELINE is a jarring cinematic masterpiece. The film is a wholly original exploration of what happens when the intersection of self-delusion and utter brilliance collide.
